Amarant is a haven from the chaos and stresses of today's world.

More than ever before in the history of human evolution our bodies, minds and spirits are being subjected to environmental toxins that affect the air we breathe, the water we drink, the foods we eat, the thoughts we have, the behaviours we exhibit and the choices we make.

This ongoing assault on our health takes its toll by weakening our innate defence systems resulting in disturbances which may manifest on any or all levels of our being - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual. Medication, in particular antibiotics and vaccines also contribute to this attack on our homeostasis. Coeliac disease, reflux, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, food sensitivities, obesity, diabetes, chronic fatigue, allergies and depression are some examples of how we may be affected.

Our chief defence system resides within our gut - the microbiome. It consists of trillions of beneficent microbe colonies that have a specific role in working on our behalf, taking care of such vital processes as digestion, gut lining protection, immunity, energy levels, mood modulation, vitamin synthesis and genetic switching.

So how can we best support our microbes? - Food is key!! 
Ingestion of cultured and fermented foods such as sauerkraut and fermented drinks for example kombuca, water kefir, and a diet based on mainly plant based wholefoods supports microbiome balance and function. 

At Amarant we offer the RESET YOUR LIFE JUICE FAST retreat, which allows your gut to detox and establish a ReSet point. From there an eating schedule to recalibrate the microbiome is discussed.

A specific MICROBIOME program is being planned that addresses how it works and protocols for making responsible food choices to facilitate vibrant health.

Who's Who?




Dr. Hanna Cyncynatus is trained in both Western and Eastern Medicine and has taught and practiced Medical Acupuncture. Hanna is also a graduate of Living Light Culinary Arts Institute and is passionately interested in the role that plant based whole food nutrition plays in promoting health and wellbeing.

Hanna's greatest wish is for humanity to be inspired in making wise and responsible food related choices to create vitality, balance, harmony and longevity. As this manifests within it has a profound affect in creating balance and harmony in the world around us.

Jules Taylor


Jules Taylor is Amarant Retreat’s resident counsellor, teacher and guide. In it’s early years her rich and varied career spanned the music, media, fashion, film and entertainment industries, culminating in her study of psychotherapy and Buddhism, eventually becoming a student of Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche.

Jules has practiced as an individual and group therapist for 20 years, and is an experienced teacher of meditation and mindfulness practices.
