Amarant’s unique
architecture afforded its creator, Architect – Kevin
Boland
, an architectural award for
its cutting edge design in 1974. Still admired
for its unique archicture today, Amarant
Retreat was consciously designed to
enhance heating/cooling efficiency at the same time offering magnificent views from all living areas.
The elevated timber structure was challengingly built along and down the sloping terrain melding
into its surrounding pristine natural environment backing onto the Yarra Ranges National Park. At the
'Y' of the Yarra Valley & entry to Upper Yarra Valley region.
Amarant’s nearest township is Don Valley which lies between Launching Place and
Healesville. It is easily accessible via the Warburton Highway or Maroondah
Highway. The most direct route from Melbourne is via Warburton Highway -
Launching Place, left turn at Don Road (at Home Hotel) and travel 6.2 km along
Don Road, turn right Grandview Road. Launching Place is approximately 1 hour and
15 minutes drive from central Melbourne.
